Boston Celtics [team stats] star Kevin Garnett is helping Wheaties refuel the “Breakfast of Champions.”
Boxes of the new Wheaties Fuel cereal, featuring Garnett’s intense mug, hit supermarket shelves today.
“It’s always a tremendous honor to grace the cover of a Wheaties box,” the 12-time All-Star forward said in a statement.
A team of athletes helped General Mills put more muscle into Wheaties, which was introduced in 1924.
The cereal maker hopes that by putting Garnett, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols, triathlete Hunter Kemper and decathlete Bryan Clay on its boxes, it will attract customers seeking more carbohydrates to meet their energy needs.
Wheaties Fuel is a crunchy mix of whole-wheat flakes and crisp rice lightly sweetened with real honey and cinnamon.
A serving includes 210 calories, 16 grams of whole grain, 100 percent of five B-vitamins, 5 grams of fiber as well as calcium and vitamin D.
