Ankle injury knocks Hornets' West out of game

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- New Orleans Hornets forward David West left the game Friday night against Minnesota with a sprained left ankle.

West was injured late in the second quarter on a drive to the basket. His left ankle rolled when he stepped on Timberwolves guard Corey Brewer's foot. West remained in the game to shoot free throws, but walked to the locker room after making one of two.

West was leading the team in scoring with 14 points when he left the game. The team said his return was doubtful.

West is the Hornets' second-leading scorer this season with 17.8 points a game. He also averages 7.7 rebounds a game.
