Hornets' Shinn has successful prostate removal surgery

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Hornets Owner George Shinn underwent successful surgery to remove his prostate and will begin immediate rehab.

The team made the announcement on Wednesday.

A businessman from Kannapolis, N.C., the 68-year-old Shinn was diagnosed with prostate cancer in early November.

The Hornets said in a press release that the surgery removed 100 percent of the cancer and that Shinn is expected to make a full recovery. Shinn will complete most of his rehab out of town.

The surgery was done by Dr. Patrick Walsh at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution in Baltimore.
