Glen Davis, already attempting to overcome the rap from a preseason incident that ended in a broken thumb, dug himself a deeper hole during the second quarter of tonight’s game between the Celtics [team stats] and Pistons.
The Celtics forward, angered when a fan behind the Celtics television crew started repeatedly calling him “fat boy,” instructed the fan to perform a task unfit for print.
Davis was close to the microphone of Celtics announcer Mike Gorman, who signaled in vain for Davis to stop.
The fan, who identified himself as Scott Zack, turned to calling Davis “Chubs” after being told to refrain in his behavior by security, and also threatened to lodge a complaint against Davis.
The Palace crowd is rather notorious for its behavior, dating back to a Nov. 14, 2004, brawl between several members of the Pacers, including Ron Artest, and members of the Pistons crowd.
