Offense percolating for Hawks' Williams

BOSTON -- Hawks forward Marvin Williams went into Monday's game shooting his best of this season. Williams was shooting 55.3 percent over his last five games and 51.4 percent over his last 10. He had been shooting 41.9 percent in his first 25 games.

"His confidence is a lot better. That makes a world of difference when you're shooting," coach Mike Woodson said. "We're trying to put him in positions to catch the ball and score a little bit, so it's been kind of nice to see that."

Before Monday, Williams was a career 44.9 percent shooter.

Back in the fold

The Hawks are expected to sign former team member Mario West Tuesday to a 10-day contract. West, who played for the Hawks for the past two seasons after making the team as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Tech, was cut in training camp this season. He has been playing for the Maine Red Claws in the NBA Developmental League.

The Hawks had two weeks to add a 13th player after requesting waivers on forward Othello Hunter last week.

Rivers on Horford

Boston coach Doc Rivers, when asked if Hawks center Al Horford was a center or power forward:

"I don’t know what he is. I just know he's a heck of a basketball player. Horford is a load every night. He may be undersized, but his heart isn't. He plays with an amazing amount of energy and he makes up for it in that way."

Etc.

The Hawks start a five-game homestand Wednesday, the longest of the season, against Washington. ... The Hawks wore their alternate red uniforms Monday.
